Black pepper contains the highest levels of piperine, the substance that gives pepper its well-known heat. To produce black pepper, the fruits must be harvested whilst still unripe and then dried. Pepper fruits can usually be found in four different colours, depending on the time of harvest and subsequent processing. The colour of the pepper also indicates the intensity of its heat. Black pepper is stronger than green pepper, milder than white pepper, but compared to the latter, much more aromatic and flavourful.

Generally speaking, pepper is a versatile spice used in a variety of dishes, such as meat, fish and vegetable dishes, poultry dishes, various salads and so on. It is also used in certain drinks and cocktails, and is increasingly being added to desserts and fruit.

This black pepper comes from organic farming.

It is best to grind the peppercorns just before use, otherwise the pepper quickly loses its flavour. However, when stored correctly, the whole peppercorns can retain their flavour and aroma for years.

Packaging

An airtight zip-lock bag, in which the product retains all its freshness and aroma. The packaging protects against light and air. It consists of several layers of protection that preserve the product’s properties.

The packaging is very practical and can be recycled.
